2024 FIRST SNOW SUNRISE

One of the most exciting times every year for me is the first snow in the Oregon Cascades. I love watching weather forecasts, especially in the Fall, because I know at some point the temps are going to drop and the snow is going to begin. This year took a little time for the first true snow, down to the base of the volcanoes, often times September yields the first the snow...this year it was October 18th.

I followed the forecast up until the day before the this image was shot, then I watched the webcams up and down the Oregon cascades. Off and on, I stay up all night watching the snow accumulate on the cameras and hope the stars align for a clear sky the following day. On this morning, the stars aligned.

You are viewing the Three Sisters, Broken Top and Todd Lake at sunrise for the first snowfall of the 2024/25 season. A magical moment showing the contours of all the gorgeous volcanoes and ushering in the Winter season :)
